The construction of an extension to an existing substation building, including a basement and top story floor.
What we did
- Steel Fixing
- Concrete works
- Security fencing
Basement excavation and the installation of 10m deep piers were required for the substation extension. Groundwater was contaminated with black coal oil, while car bodies, tramlines and concrete slabs were encountered during the excavation. The 'recovered' concrete slabs were further broken up and used as general fill in the backfilling operation.
The exterior of the newly formed building and existing structure was rendered and painted. All inside ceilings were lined and painted. The top story construction involved blockwork with besser block 200 series blocks with steel beams and a Colourbond roof.
